Standing Together With Faro

Ross River Dena Council and Dena Nezziddi Development Corporation wish to extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims of Tuesday’s tragedy in Faro. 

Today we stand with the people of Faro, hand in hand, as one community during this difficult time.

We also wish to express our gratitude to the first responders who played such an important role during yesterday’s crisis.

Sacred Fire Ceremony Thursday

Ross River Dena Council and Dena Nezziddi Development Corporation welcome all community members to a Sacred Fire and a Healing Prayer Circle in Faro tomorrow (Thursday, October 28) at 6:00 p.m. at the tree circle.

Chief Jack Caesar will lead us in prayer as we stand together with Faro in unity.

Counselling Available in Ross River and Faro

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the community members who have been impacted by the events of October 26. 

In the days and weeks ahead, a range of support services will be available for members who reside in Faro, as well as members in Ross River who may need assistance during this difficult time. 

To meet with someone in person, a counsellor will be on location at the Margaret Thomson Centre in Ross River on Thursday and Friday. Please contact the Margaret Thomson Centre at (867) 969-2430 for assistance with scheduling, or you can call (867) 689-0237 to speak with a counsellor directly.

Members who reside in Faro are also encouraged to call (867) 689-0237 to speak with someone immediately and/or to learn more about the in-person counselling services available.

Along with in-person services, there will be phone counselling options available as well.

To reach a counsellor by phoneduring regular business hours, please call Rapid Access Counselling at 1-866-456-3838 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You can also contact the Reach Out Support Line, a free service offered by the Yukon Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. To contact the Reach Out Support Line dial 1-844-533-3030.
